Social Event

A Capitol Performance by the Capitol Steps – where Pennsylvania Avenue meets Broadway

August 24, 2016 –  6:30 – 9:00 PM

Don’t miss our final night’s social event featuring the
Capitol Steps, Washington DC’s award-winning political satire group. Most cast members have worked on Capitol Hill; some for Democrats, some for Republicans, and others for politicians who firmly straddle the fence. It’s political cabaret at its best! With their spot on satire and great cast of performers, you will never think of Congress or anyone in the political field in the same way. No matter who or what is in the headlines, you can bet the Capitol Steps will tackle both sides of the political spectrum and all things equally foolish. What more would you expect from the group that puts the "MOCK" in Democracy?!

(Dinner 6:30 to 8:00; performance from 8:00 to 9:00)

Survival Tips

  • Download the Mobile App prior to coming to Forum. (The App will be available for download in July 2016).

  • On the Mobile App, review the daily schedule of sessions in advance in order to plan each day and attend the sessions that are most beneficial to you.

  • Choose a back up session in case your first choice is full. You may want to mark your program with your choices so you can quickly identify where the alternate session is being held

  • Arrive at least five (5) minutes before the session starts to ensure you get a good seat.

  • Complete the evaluations for each session you attend and for the overall conference. Evaluations are online and a link will be emailed to you. NIGP reviews and considers these carefully, so make your voice heard!

  • Do something new. Take a session to learn about a topic you don't know anything about. Breaking out might lead to new opportunities.

  • Converse with strangers! Talk with anyone who's standing or sitting next to you. It's okay, it's expected. Networking can lead to learning about alternative procurement methods, or even better, a new friend.

  • Ask questions of the exhibitors. They're not just there to sell, but to provide information.
  • It's OK to leave. If you choose a session and find out in the first few moments that it's not for you, you are welcome to move quietly to another session. Speakers expect a certain amount of movement in the beginning of each session.

  • ENJOY! There is a whole wealth of learning, understanding and profitable ideas for you to take home.
