Like every great procurement professional, Ben continues to evolve and adapt to the situations and environment around him. As a newbie and young professional to the public procurement profession in 2013, Ben attended his first NIGP Forum in Orlando (2013). Ben credits that experience for giving him a sense of purpose and direction with his career. From the amazing keynote speakers, workshop sessions, and networking opportunities, he learned so much and took home many new skills, tips and tricks that helped him improve, not only his understanding of the procurement field, but also the processes at his agency.
In 2014 Ben eagerly awaited the arrival of Forum – he couldn’t wait to get to Philly to reconnect with all the friends he made in Orlando, to meet new ones, and soak in as much information, tips, tricks, and inspiration as possible! He even took the "Rocky” theme to heart… adapting his image: grey sweat suit, headband, white towel, triumphant pose and all!
Now, with his second Forum behind him, Ben is eagerly counting down the days to his third in Kansas City, Missouri – August 1 – 5, 2015. He’s already begun adapting to the surroundings, sights, sounds… and smells of Kansas City… for 2015, he’s decided to be Chef Ben in honor of all the great Kansas City barbeque he can’t wait to sample!
