Public Sector E-Procurement Solutions

By John Kappel posted 05-07-2014 17:04

Good afternoon,

I am on a Procurement team to either create an e-procurement in-house solution, purchase and implement an application solution or purchase and implement/integrate a cloud based solution. We run our backend on SAP. I would like to reach out to the NIGP public sector community to find out what business processes that you are running on e-procurement, what system(s) are you using, and what is your backend system? Any imput would be so helpful.

Cordially,

John Kappel

Not to get too philosophical but after going through many "computer migrations" in my career I can tell you that it is best to go slow, outline your needs, workflow your processes and establish your baseline requirements to solicit for the right fit to your organization. This may be as easy as an "off-the-shelf" solution or a customized individually programmed for your entity result. Keep all affected personnel in the loop and get buy-in from the start. Try to improve processes rather that copy the existing ones and move your procurement organization into a strategic position. Good Luck!

John,
We are using Sci-Quest as our e-procurement solution- http://www.sciquest.com/
We also run SAP on the backend.
WSCA has an available co-op with them- http://www.aboutwsca.org/contract.cfm/contract/w33-2011
